about

The corpse sat on their own pack outside their tent. Their candle burned in a metal cylinder, perforated with holes, affixed to the chest of one of their many coats. They stared upward, as a string of bright stars passed overhead... Jewels, fixed to a crown of cosmic dust...

Representing the survivors of Burning Ships, Aurora approached them.

"A mapmaker, are you?" She asked.

The corpse stared at their handiwork. "It was my training, at the Academy of Geologists. I think..."

Aurora nodded. "Do you have a name?"

The corpse shook their head, for they could remember little, save for the head of a hammer, crashing down on them.

Aurora surveyed the dead mapmaker's pale features and the tufts of white hair poking out from their hood and then offered a suggestion: "I will call you... Ash."

lyrics

Though I'm awoken by the light
Only stars shine in the sky
But change is coming to this world

I brush the ice off from my skin
And it gathers there again
This is the fate that I've been told

Although I dread the summer's heat
In times like these
We could all use
A little warmth
